Hey all! So every Wednesday I am going to pick a word and talk about how that word inspires me: whether in life, in fashion, in family, etc! Todays word is: FEARLESS.
Being fearless is such a strange concept. Obviously we are all afraid of some things! Like for instance, I am terrified of drowning. I have been living in Florida most of my life, I can totally swim, and I absolutely love the beach. However, I have always had this crazy fear of deep water and drowning. But I will say in most situations, I do my best to be fearless.
I was always the oldest kid in my family: the oldest sibling, the oldest cousin and usually the oldest friend. Having so many responsibilities at such a young age made me grow up a bit quicker than everyone else around me. I will say, I loved being in charge. It made me feel important and special. I knew while I was babysitting or hanging out with my friends, people were always watching me. So I always tried my best to set a good example.
As an adult, this has manifested into being a badass Capricorn who does what she wants and doesn't take crap from anyone! For example, some friends and I were doing a photoshoot in Downtown Lake Worth Beach the other day and two guys kept following us around, cat calling us and trying get our attention. I finally stepped up and told them to move it along. Mama Cathy, as always, swoops in to protect her peeps. Was it scary? OF COURSE! But sometimes the scary stuff turns into strength you didn't know you had before.
This strength has even spilled over into my fashion life! I used to be so self conscious about what I wore and who I wore it in front of. Being a curvy girl as a teenager and even young adult can be tough. But today, I am fearless in knowing that the clothes I wear make me feel happy and thats all that matters! The outfit on my instagram post today is a Lilly for Target jumpsuit. When I first bought it, I felt so silly wearing it. I would tell myself, curvy girls don't wear jumpsuits! But boy was I wrong! I always get so many compliments when I wear it. As Audrey Hepburn once said, "I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls!"
Being fearless, in my opinion, doesn't necessarily mean you aren't afraid of things! It just means that you have the courage to do the scary stuff sometimes. Be fearless today friends! I promise in the end, you will find strength you never knew you had in you. What makes you fearless? Let me know in the comments below!
